meret oppenheim was a surrealist artist. she was a member of the surrealist movement of the 1920s along with andré breton, luis bunuel, marcel duchamp, max ernst and other writers and visual artists.

the magic of moonstone

my last creation is a ring made of gold with a moonstone, one of my favourites stones...

in many cultures, it is regarded as a holy, magical gemstone.

moonstone has been used for centuries, including ancient civilizations. the roman admired moonstone, as they believed it was born from solidified rays of the moon. both the romans and greeks associated this amazing stone with their lunar gods and goddesses.

incredible story about this  amazing unknown street photographer from the 50's whose work was discovered at an auction in chicago.
her discovered work includes over 100.000 negatives, thousands of prints and countless undeveloped rolls of film.

frantisek drtikol

one of the most important czech photographers of the twentieth century. he also focused on painting, budhist religion and philosophical systems.
he died in 1961, lonely and forgotten. nowadays, his place in the czech and international photography can hardly be replaced.

marianne breslauer was part of man ray's circle and of the cosmopolitan scene in the 1920's and early 30's. breslauer produced memorable portraits of the famously androgynous swiss travel writer annemarie schwarzenbach who experimented with drugs and died tragically young. breslauer described schwarzenbach as : "neither a woman, neither a man, but an angel, an archangel..." She also took street photographs utilising the new light cameras of the time - typified by the leica, introduced in 1925 - to look at the world from unexpected vantage points.

All her life was dedicated to science and research, a fantastic lady with her 101 years!!!! Gregor had the honor to make some fotos and was fascinated from her vitality and energy, perhaps because she had such an interesting life.... i would love to be like her with 101 years.....
