happy birthday!! on october 27 1923 roy lichtenstein was born in new york.
he was a founder and formost practitioner of pop art, a movement that countered the techniques and concepts of abstract expressionism with images and techniques taken from popular culture.

tobel comment on his work:" i like to maintain the stone's strength by only working the inside, leaving the outside in its rough, natural state, it's a way to honor the hundreds of millions of years that the stone has aged. too much polishing destroys the nature of the granite; i like to reveal the stone's secrets."
